Stevenson, Anne Katharine

(1933- )
   The daughter of the American philosopher C.L. Stevenson, she was born in Cambridge, England. She completed her education at the University of Michigan and returned in the 1960s where has remained, living high up in the County of Durham, and spending much time in Wales. During a varied career, she has worked as a teacher both in Britain and America, held the post of Compton Fellow in Creative Writing at the University of Dundee, and was Arts Council writer-in-residence at Reading. For two years she was an arts fellow at Oxford University and in 1981 became Northern Arts Literary Fellow. She is a member of the Arts Council literature panel. Her biography of Sylvia Plath, Bitter Fame, was published in 1989. Some of her poetry publications: Living in America, 1965. Reversals, 1970. Enough of Green, 1977. The Fiction Makers, 1985.
